Board of Committees at Work March 2024

Submitted by Rob Peters

In order to be more transparent, I will be contributing information regarding the King City Civic Association Board and Committees on the website and in the newsletter. This information will include ongoing and upcoming projects and the funds needed to complete them.  I will also highlight projects we are no longer pursuing and how those funds will be reallocated.

Clubhouse sound system

An example of the latter is the clubhouse sound system. We budgeted $12,000 to replace the current system.  On December 27, 2023, we had our audio system evaluated by OHM Systems. They were able to recalibrate the wireless microphones and determined that the rest of the current audio system is in good working order.  They should continue to work well for a long time. The total cost was $250 (refer to February 2024 newsletter article pg. 1).

Cancellation of management software

Another example is the management software contract we entered into in September 2023 with FrontSteps/Caliber. On February 1, 2024, I spoke to Josh Mateo, the solutions delivery manager, about cancelling our contract.  The monthly fee for this contract was $1,425 per month. On February 13, 2024, I received confirmation that our contract had been canceled. This will result in savings of $11,400 not counting any refunds. The association is waiting to hear back on the status of any refund of money already paid to FrontSteps/Caliber.

Other Updates

Point of Sales (POS) System for the Pro Shop

A POS system, Clover, was approved by the Budget and Finance Committee on February 6, 2024.

Printer for Pro Shop

The purchase of a black ink printer was also approved on February 6, 2024.

On February 6, 2024, the Budget and Finance Committee voted to increase the Greens Use Fee of the Lawn Bowling Green from $500 to $750 ahead of an upcoming croquet tournament taking place April 3rd – 7th.

Golf Course

The Budget and Finance Committee also authorized the purchase of a Toro Workman for the grounds crew. The purchase was included in the 2024 budget.  This replaces an old Cushman cart.
